print of the month series: FEBRUARY EDITION

Mid-February is when the winter really starts to wear out it’s welcome. We’re cold. We’re tired. We’re all feeling a little raw and waiting for the first signs of spring to appear. So in February, we wanted to feature work that feels warm, soft, and inviting. We wanted to share an image that has a little bit of magic and mystery to get us through this final cold snap.

We are please to announce our February Print of The Month - “Untitled” by Meredith Magnolia.

In her photographs, Meredith explores how the places we occupy and the people we share space with are a reflection of our common needs and desires. Whether she’s looking inward in self portraits or at the quiet spaces of her everyday experience, she’s able to capture something both whimsical and grounded. She inhabits a world in her images that is completely her own but is always extending a hand outward to invite us in.

At the most foundational level, we all want to learn, to be loved, to be acknowledged, and to be appreciated as living, breathing, human beings. Every element of Meredith’s images are touched by a distinctly human hand - you can almost hear the sound of pen on paper and feel the warmth of the sun in the image we are featuring this month. In her artist statement, she says that “beauty is at the footprint of our very beings, at the fingertips of every reach.” Meredith’s work is a reminder to hold onto the stillness of these mid-winter months and allow yourself to get lost in them. There’s beauty to be found in these spaces if we take the time to look, and make the effort to reach out.
