print of the month series: january edition
Greyscale Darkroom is pleased to announce the launch of the Print of the Month project, a regular series of super limited edition prints created in-house by local and visiting artists and photographers. Limited to 10 prints per edition, each one is signed and stamped, printed on 8x10 silver gelatin paper.
In an effort to provide access to traditional analog photographic practices and to give artists an outlet to both create and sell their work, a portion of all print sales will go directly to the artist, with the remaining portion going to Greyscale Darkroom to help build and support our initiatives and remain a viable and vibrant resource to the photography community in Sullivan County and beyond.
Our first edition is by Greyscale Darkroom founder Krystal Grow. The image of a pair of legs balancing precariously over a hillside was taken in November, 2022 at the Storm King Arts Center. Candid, disorienting, and a little bit ominous, for me this image represents the leap of faith I took in opening this business, diving head first into the unknown. Two years later, we’re still building this community and finding new ways to engage with photographers and with the creative community at large. The goal of this project is to promote the work of photographers we love while providing them with the time, space, and resources to make new work, and to give people the opportunity to get excited about photography while supporting a local business and the local arts community.
Prints are available to purchase online or in-person.
